The Office of Equal Opportunity, Accessibility, and Title IX (EOATIX) recently published Dartmouth’s Personal Care Attendant (PCA) policy to strengthen the College’s support for community members with disabilities.
A PCA is an individual who is hired by a person with a disability to aid in carrying out various activities of daily living and other personal needs. Some types of assistance PCAs may provide include bathing, dressing, medication management, and other personal tasks. This policy provides clear guidance on the expectations and processes for requesting a PCA accommodation for individuals with disabilities who require a PCA.
Individuals with disabilities who believe a PCA accommodation is necessary to fully access Dartmouth’s programs and offerings should contact their appropriate Dartmouth Disability Access Professional’s (DDAP) office to begin the process of making a request. For more information and to review the policy in full, please visit the Dartmouth Policy Portal. Questions about the policy or process can be directed to Linda Sullivan, ADA/504 Coordinator with the EOATIX office.
